Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled for February 3, 2012

The City of Ferguson will celebrate the construction of the New Fire Station #1 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. at 200 S. Florissant Road which is at the corner of Adams St. and S. Florissant Rd. adjacent to the Ferguson Police Department. Refreshments will follow immediately after ceremony.

The new station will almost triple the size of the current fire station #1 which was built in the early 1950’s. The new station will have improved training facilities, more storage space, and a better location to serve the community. The new building will be energy efficient and will be an asset to the downtown area of Ferguson.

The new fire station project is being funded by the passage of the $8,000,000 Proposition S bond issue which was approved with overwhelming support by voters on April 5, 2011. The anticipated completion date is scheduled for November of 2012.
